Anand Kabra Biography

Anand Kabra is a leading fashion designer known for sari designs. He is deeply influenced by Hyderabad designs like Kara Dupatta, Zardozi etc. He studied fashion designing from London School of Fashion. His label 'Anand Kabra' was launched in 2001. He is Hyderabad based and resides in the city. Many leading models and Bollywood divas have been featured in his ramp walks and fashion shows. He was 18 years old then, when he decided to pursue fashion designing and he quit his medicine studies too.

Anand Kabra was born into a Marwadi family. His father is a doctor. Following his father’s footsteps Anand too pursued MBBS graduation. He excelled in studies and used to score distinction marks for hissubjects.  However he quit his studies and later completed fashion designing from London School of Fashion. Though one of his friends suggested NIFT Delhi, when his parents recognized his true passion, they decided to send him to London School of Fashion. He graduated in the year 1997 and launched his own label, ‘Anand Kabra’ in 2001. He made his debut at fashion week in India in the month of October 2006 with Spring Summer '07 collection. Since then he is fully active in the fashion world.

Though he is associated with different types of outfits, his creativity expresses best when he designs India’s traditional costume, Sari. Over the years his parents have accepted him completely and he presents a sari for his mother’s birthday every year specially designed by him. His designs are believed to be perfect for the New Age woman who does not shy away from experiment. Deeply influenced by Hyderabadi style, he also incorporates Marwadi genres into his work pieces.
