Amrita Thapar Biography

Amrita Thapar is a former model from Pune and a beauty pageant winner. She was the winner of Miss India 2005 peagant, who got the opportunity to represent India at the Miss Universe pageant 2005. She is a fashion designer, a stylist, a painter and a fashion writer by profession. She was featured in Pankaj Udhas's album song "Jaaneman”, and has also appeared for the music videos of Hariharan and other leading singers. She is currently establishing her own Fitness & Lifestyle Wear Brand, thus turning an entrepreneur. She is one among those super successful models of India, who pursued modelling and fashion as career, rather than films and entertainment.

Amrita Thapar was born and brought up in Pune, Maharashtra. She started her career as a model, and has appeared in several TV ads of some of the leading brands of the industry, including cosmetic products. Amrita got her first recognition in a music video produced by Radhika Rao. It was when she started receiving modelling assignments, and she got recognition through this video. She got more offers from the modelling industry. She shot to fame after she became Miss India Universe, 2005. She was preceded by Tanushree Dutta, who later forayed into Bollywood. Unlike other successful models of the country, she didn’t try for acting career. Instead she chose fashion designing, styling and fashion column writing as her profession.

In short, after her successful journey as a busy model of the country, she continued with the same field, branching into its advanced branches. She also succeeded as a painter and orator. She is a certified scuba diver & loves Kayaking. She won two best designer awards at NIFT SOFT, where she studied fashion designing course.
