Amrita Chaudhry Biography 
Amrita Chaudhry was an Indian journalist known to be one among the best and well regarded contemporary journalists in the present times. She died in a car accident in 2012 aged only 40. She was working as Principal Correspondent with The Indian Express when death took her away in an unexpected incident. She was travelling from Chandigarh to Ludhiana along with her journalist friend cum partner Jatinderpreet Singh when the tragic incident occurred. She died of serious head injury following the accident, as her head hit the dashboard, while she was resting in the backseat.
She was born to Gurinder Kaur Arora and Harbans Singh Arora in Jalandhar in 1972. Her father worked as an engineer with state electricity board. Her education was completed in Jalandhar and she settled with her family life in Ludhiana. She had one child in the wedlock, Siddharth, a special child, who is marginally autistic. But she got separated from her husband and she took care of her son. She lived with her son and her partner Jatinder Preet, also known as Jaypee.
She holds Master’s in journalism from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. She started her journalist career in the year 1997. She started off as a contributor to Ludhiana city supplement of The Indian Express and reached the position of Principal Correspondent in a short interval of time, before her death. Her columns and works on agriculture related issues earned her appreciation and she worked as a correspondent across towns and villages of Punjab. She along with Jaypee founded Media Artists conducted workshops for kids and promoted art. Spirit of Amrita Foundation was formed after her demise which continues with her dreams to promote arts and plays.
