Amoghavarsha J. S Biography

Amoghavarsha J. S is a wildlife photographer and filmmaker from Bangalore, South India. He closely works with government forest departments, NGOs and media institutions on conservation and education projects. He has also done some documentary films based on wild life. "River Terns of Bhadra”, "Jaya hai Kannada thaye", “Secrets of the King Cobra", "Indian wildlife national anthem", “Kali” etc are some of his documentaries, which have been shown in many film festivals, and he has received many awards for the same. He won the Impactdocs Award of Merit for Kali and many more honours.

 

Amoghavarsha J. S. hails from Bangalore. He took a degree in Computer Science and then he joined Amazon as a Software Engineer, followed by Asklaila, a new start up. In 2008 he quit his corporate sector job to pursue his dream – photography. As a part of his professional job, he has been associated with NGOs, media, government forest departments etc and he also exhibited his photographs in several national and international exhibitions. He has even contributed to Microsoft research about a media project at Hampi. He has been associated with "Science Express - Biodiversity Special", a Ministry of Environment and Forests initiative.

 

He has also worked as a cameraman and photographer for a few projects and documentaries about wild life. River Terns of Bhadra, Kali, Secrets of the King Cobra, Jaya hai Kannada thaye, Huli - How to Save the Tiger and Indian wildlife national anthem are among those projects. His work on Kali earned him Impactdocs Award of Merit, and was nominated at India's top Environment and Wildlife film festival CMS Vatavara. AIYD alumni grant 2015 was also given to him.
