Amitosh Nagpal Biography

Amitosh Nagpal is an actor, lyricist, singer and scriptwriter associated with Bollywood. He is also a theatre artist and playwright. As an actor he is best known for his supporting role in Ranbir Kapoor starrer, Besharam released in 2013. He was the dialogue writer of Gulabi Gang and 2017 critically acclaimed film, English Medium. He has played brief roles in Bollywood films such as Dabangg, Phillum City, Aarakshan, Rangrezz etc. He has also penned lyrics for Jugni song apart from the rap song ‘ABCD Chahida Mainu’ and ‘Superchor’ for the National award winning movie, ‘Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye’. He has also written several jingles for ad world.

 

Amitosh Nagpal hails from Hisar of Haryana. He was born on 22 October 1984. As an actor his association with Bollywood began in the year 2010 with the film, Debangg, where he played the brief role of Sumant Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha's brother. Sonakshi also made her Bollywood debut through this film. After playing minor roles in a couple of movies, he got noticed for the film, Besharam released in 2013 where he enacted the role of Titu. Though the movie was a huge failure at box office, Amitosh got a big break through this film.

 

Though he is a familiar face in Bollywood through the supporting roles he played, he is a talented writer and lyricist too. He has also written a Hindi play Piya Behrupia, an adaptation of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Dabbling with so many things all at the same time, most recently he co-scripted and penned the lyrics of the sleeper hit, English Medium starring Irrfan Khan. The actor believes that you improve as an actor when you are trying to learn all the other parts of theatre or filmmaking.
