Amitava Chattopadhyay Biography 
Amitava Chattopadhyay is a Professor of Marketing and The GlaxoSmithKline Chaired Professor of Corporate Innovation. He is an expert on branding and his research has appeared in leading journals including the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology etc. An authority on Brand management, he has spent over three decades in the field. He is the author of the award winning book, The New Emerging Market Multinationals: Four Strategies for Disrupting Markets and Building Brands. The book was published in 2012 by McGraw-Hill and was co-authored with Prof. Rajeev Batra and Prof. Aysegul Ozsomer. The book was rated a top Strategy book of 2012 by Strategy + Business. Apart from publishing works in numerous journals, he also served as Advisory on board for several organizations.
He was born in Kolkata on July 5, 1956. His schooling was completed at different parts of the country as well as UK. He graduated in Chemistry at Jadavpur University and completed Business Program from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Later he completed PhD in Marketing from the University of Florida. After studies, he started off as a lecturer at McGill University in Montreal, where he worked for 8 years. Later he moved to University of British Columbia, INSEAD and finally to Singapore in 2005.
His research works are mainly on branding and innovation in consumer point of view. He has published more than 60 articles in several international journals in the past three decades. Chattopadhyay is an Associate Editor at the Journal of Consumer Psychology, and an Area Editor at the International Journal of Research in Marketing. Over the years he has developed and taught courses on branding, marketing strategy, communication strategy, consumer behaviour etc.
