Amitabh Bhattacharjee Biography

Amitabh Bhattacharjee is a film actor from Delhi, who appears in Hindi and Bengali films. He got his first break to acting through 2003 Bengali film, Rasta, and has stayed in the industry for the past 15 years or so. He shared screen space with Mithun Chakraborty and Rajatava Dutta for his debut flick, directed by Bratya Basu. He is also associated with Bengali television, and his lead roles in Bikele Bhorer Phool and Checkmate were well-received. He is a well-known figure of Bengali television right now. He was seen in Bollywood films – Kalyug and The Legend of Bhagat Singh in brief roles.

Amitabh Bhattacharjee was born in Delhi on 15 August 1973. He completed his graduation in English literature from Delhi and then worked in Doordarshan. After sometime he enrolled for studies in Psychology, but didn’t complete the course. He got back into work then working as a graphic designer. He later moved to the field of media, working as an assistant director and assistant producer. He worked with Pradip Sarkar as an assistant director in 1999 and for big opportunities he moved to Mumbai in 2001.

While he was working there as a freelancer, he was offered a brief role in the movie “The Legend of Bhagat Singh” by director Rajkumar Santoshi. 2003 Bengali film, Rasta was his first credited role. Though he stayed in film industry for a while, he achieved the real success through a couple of lead roles he played on Bengali television. Yet he played a few memorable supporting and parallel lead roles on big screen. He worked with Mithun Chakraborty in Raasta, Tulkalaam and Swapne Dekha Rajkanya. He also shared screen space with yesterday stars - Soumitra Chatterjee, Dipankar Dey, Biplab Chatterjee etc.
