Amit Mishra Biography

Amit Mishra is a cricket player of Indian team. He is a right arm leg break bowler and right-handed lower order batsman. He is better known as a spin bowler of Indian team. He made his ODI debut against South Africa during the TVS Cup in 2003. Currently he plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League also. He has been a consistent wicket-taker in all the five editions of the tournament and often does his best with big hits at the tail end of 20-20 format matches. He made his Test cricket debut against Australia in the Second Test at Mohali on 17 October 2008.

Amit was born on 24 November 1982 in Delhi. He made test debut at Mohali when Anil Kumble got injured. He made good use of his opportunity taking 5 wickets for 71 runs in the first innings (debut) and then 2/35 in the second. He was the leading wicket taker of the match too, thus playing his vital part in India’s victory. In the next match, Harbhajan Singh was injured and thus Amit retained his position in the team. Anil Kumble also returned back. Injured Kumble retired from the test, thus giving the position of Test leg spinner to Mishra. But Mishra couldn’t get much opportunities to play in India’s test team for a period.

Mishra was recalled for the tour of Bangladesh in the position of injured Harbhajan Singh. He made 50 in the second innings as a night-watchman and also took seven wickets in two innings. But again, he was dropped from the team. In 2011, he played against England where he took his highest test score of 84. Now he plays for India, both in ODI and test formats. Amit owns 43 wickets from 13 test matches he played and 37 wickets from 20 ODIs as records of today.
