Amit Kumar Biography
Amit Kumar is an Indian sportsman who concentrates in the game of wrestling. He represented India at the 2012 Summer Olympics held at London in United Kingdom. He was only 18 years old at that time and was the youngest ever wrestler representing India in the game of Olympics.
Amit Kumar was born on 15th December 1993 in Nahri Village of Sonipat District of Haryana. His father’s name is Narender Singh and he is a milkman. His mother’s name is Shila Devi. He has two brothers.
He was interested in wrestling from his age of seven and when he was studying second grade, he was able to defeat the boy of seventh grade in wrestling. This incident was just enough to showcase his talents and he was encouraged and appreciated by his teacher and parents and with their support he was able to pursue his dreams in wrestling.
He joined the Akhara of Hansrajji and his talents caught the attention of the wrestling coach Satpal Singh who has won medals in the Asian and Commonwealth Games. He was studying only sixth standard at that time. Satpal Singh took him to the wrestling training center at Chhatrasal Stadium in Model Town and gave him good training.
He clinched the gold medal at the Asian Qualifying Tournament in Astana in Kazakhstan in 2012. He bagged gold medal in World Cadet, Asia Cadet and Asian Junior level and grabbed bronze medal in Senior Asian Championship.
