Ambati Rayudu Biography

Ambati Rayudu is a right-handed middle order batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler of Indian cricket team. He is one of the top batsmen of Mumbai Indians – IPL Team. He currently represents Baroda in all domestic Indian first class.

 

Rayadu started his sports career for Hyderabad team. He entered First class cricket in 2001-02 Indian cricket season. His outstanding performance caught the eye of selectors and appointed him as captain of the Indian Under-19 side. He was then called as ‘the next Sachin Tendulkar’. But the following incidents show him way out of the cricket team and cancelling his contract. On-field incidents and disputes with domestic boards led to such unfortunate incidents. He was banned from Indian cricket for signing with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) in 2007. However in 2009 when he cancelled his contract with the league he was allowed to return back to the team. He debut One Day International of Senior Indian cricket team on July 24, 2013.

 

He played for Mumbai Indians for three seasons of IPL. His total run score is 1084 and each time he has scored more than 300 runs. 81 not out in 2012 - is his highest score in IPL. His innings have 99 4’s and 36 6’s and striking rate of 127. 83 are enough to prove that he is an aggressive batsman in the field. He plays as a middle order batsman/part-time wicketkeeper for the Mumbai team. Among all his innings, a six shot at the last ball of a match against Kolkata Knight Riders to win it is the most memorable moment of Rayudu in IPL. The match was played on on 22 May 2011.

 

Rayudu was born on September 23 1985 in Guntur, AP. He completed his schooling from Bhavan's Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya, Secunderabad. Rayudu has played for 2001/02 Ranji Trophy season for Hyderabad which marked his debut, Andhra cricket team for one year and later IPL and Indian team.
