Ali Azmat Biography 
Ali Azmat is a Pakistani musician, lyricist and singer who has worked in Bollywood too. He is equally popular in India and Pakistan. He was the former leading singer of the popular Sufi rock band of Pakistan, Junoon that is popular in India as well. A living legend of Pakistani rock music his contributions to Bollywood include Paap and Jism 2. Maula and Yeh Jism Hai Toh Kya of Jism 2 both sung by Ali were chartbusters. He composed and sang the track "Garaj Baras" for the movie Paap, and both these movies were produced by Mahesh Bhatt. He married Fariha Khan Chapra in September 2011 and the couple has two daughters.
He was born on April 20, 1970 in Abbottabad and grew up in Garhi Shahu, Lahore. He is of Kashmiri Butt descent. He formed his first band ‘Jupiters’ in Lahore. Though he moved to Sydney for higher studies, he discontinued his studies and returned back to Pakistan and completely concentrated on to his music journey. He wrote the hit song – Dosti for the rock band Junoon, which shot him to instant fame. He got associated with the band as a lyricist and lead singer. Junoon was originally formed in 1990 and the band became immensely popular with late 1990s.
He was associated with the band Junoon since its formation in the year 1990 and the band had a long struggle to achieve the success. Salman Ahmad was the founder of this band, which released the first album in 1990. The band also featured in a television series, Talaash in 1992, directed by Atiqa Odho based on the true story of the band. He received his first break to Bollywood through Paap in 2003. Since then he is occasionally associated with Bollywood. He was associated with Junoon till 2005 as a singer, backing vocalist and rhythm guitarist.
