Aleya Sen Biography

Aleya Sen is a Bollywood film director and producer. Sen made her directorial debut with the 2018 film Dil Juunglee, starring Taapsee Pannu of Pink fame and Saqib Saleem. This romantic comedy film was scripted too by Aleya. The movie received bad reviews from critics and was declared a box office flop of the year. She is a co-founder of the film production house, Chrome Pictures Pvt. Ltd, and is best known for her 18-Again and Wagh Bakri campaigns. Aleya worked as an ad film maker for many years, before she made her first Bollywood film, Dil Juunglee.

Aleya Sen hails from Delhi. After completing her graduation at Delhi, she started working as an assistant film director in Bollywood film industry. Initially she assisted famous ad-film maker and Bollywood director, Pradeep Sarkar in the early 2000s. In 2004, she along with Amit Sharma and Hemant Bhandari established Chrome Pictures Pvt. Ltd, a film production house in Mumbai. Initially the production house made many ad films, and Aleya served as ad-film maker. As an ad filmmaker, she made ads for some of the leading brands of the industry like Godrej, Idea, McDonald's, KBC, NDTV etc.

She shot a music video for Shaan as a part of anti-tobacco campaign, which won the Best Music Video award at the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Awards. Her ad, ‘Rishton Ki Garmahat’ ad for Wagh Bakri tea won Best ad Film Award at the 2015 Dadasaheb Phalke Film Awards. She co-directed and produced the Silent National Anthem in 2011, which won the Gold in the Goa Film Festival and Bronze medal at the Cannes Lion. In 2018 she made her directorial debut with Dil Juunglee.
