Akshay Parija Biography

Akshay Parija is an Odia film producer and businessman. He is best known for his depictions of Odia culture and Odissi dance through his movies. He also owns a production house since 2008. He is a banker by profession, who got into film industry, and currently he lives in Dubai. Many of his films have won state and national awards. His debut film as a producer, Jianta Bhoota won Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation at 56th National Film Awards in 2008 and many other honours at international film festivals. Kehi Nuhe Kahara and Kadvi Hawa are his other award winning Odia films. He is the founder of Blue Lines Shipping Group in 2010.

Akshay Parija was born on 12 May 1954 in Jagatsinghpur District, Odisha State. His higher studies was done at Harvard Business School, US. He was initially a banker who worked in banking sector for many years in foreign countries. Parija has served in Burgan Bank, Kuwait, National Bank of Oman and BankMuscat Forex for nearly three decades since early 1980s. He has worked as a successful banker in India and abroad. In India he worked in Indian Overseas Bank at Bissam Cuttack in the 1980s before he moved abroad.

He is also a successful businessman who serves as Board Member and Executive Director to Blue Lines Shipping Group, which he founded in 2010. He started a film production company in 2008, and mostly aimed at promoting Odia culture through his movies. Jianta Bhoota, Thukool, Kehi Nuhe Kahara, Bye Bye Dubai, Agastya, Kadvi Hawa, Gotro, Chirkut, Love U Jessica, 4 Idiots etc are some of his production ventures. He predominantly produced Odia films, apart from a few in Hindi and Bengali languages.
