Akhil (tamil Actor) Biography

Akhil is a popular Tamil actor who played the lead role of Muthu Selvan in 2007 film – Kalloori. The movie marked his acting debut too, and he played lead role opposite Tamannaah Bhatia. This Tamil coming-of-age drama film by director Balaji Shakthivel received rave reviews from critics and was a box office hit. Akhil received a nomination at Vijay Film Awards for Best Debut Actor. Though he received a major break through his first film, he has appeared in only a few movies since then. But his co-star Tamannaah Bhatia became a well-established actress in south Indian films after the success of Kalloori and has also done a few movies in Bollywood.

Akhil was born in Dindigul of Tamil Nadu. He made his film debut through 2007 campus oriented tragedy film – Kalloori. The movie successfully told the dilemma between the confused tags - ‘love’ and ‘friendship’ between two close friends in teens, one being a boy and the other a girl. His second movie, Vaalmiki was released two years later. He was paired with Meera Nandan which opened to negative reviews and was a box office failure. For his next film - Nandhi (2011) alongside Sanusha had a new profile release. For the same reason movie went unnoticed. Nandhi has been entirely shot in Ramanathapuram, with more than 2000 people and the villagers actively took part while shooting the climax of the film.

His fourth film Masani was released after a gap of two years in 2013. Rettai Vaalu, Kalkandu and Azhagu Kutti Chellam were his released movies later. Azhagu Kutti Chellam got released in 2016 and his upcoming movies are Karuvaachi and Nagarpuram. Many of his movies got a delayed release, which badly affected his career.
