Ajit Gulabchand Biography 
Ajit Gulabchand is an Indian industrialist who serves as the chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Construction Company. He also serves as the chairman of the board of governance at National Institute of Construction Management & Research (NICMAR) and as Chairman of Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli. Gulabchand is a scion of the Walchand family, known for Walchand group of companies which established India’s first modern shipyard, first aircraft factory and first car factory, apart from diversified products of sugarcane industry, engineering companies, construction business and many more. He is the son of Gulabchand Hirachand, scion of Walchand group, noted industrialist, philanthropist and Hindu activist. His uncle Walchand Hirachand is the founder of Walchand group of companies.
Ajit Gulabchand was born in 1948 in Gujarat as the son of Gulabchand Hirachand, scion of Walchand group. Noted author Tavleen Singh is living with him for past 25 years. Gulabchand graduated in commerce from Sydenham College, Mumbai University. He has managed many public companies promoted by the family before taking charge of Hindustan Construction Co. Ltd. Earlier he also served as the Director of Brabourne Enterprises Ltd. 2007- 2008 and RPG Life Sciences Ltd. from 1997 to 2008. At present he also serves as an independent, non-executive Director of Bajaj Electricals.
Currently he serves as the chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Construction Company and as the director of Hindustan Finvest, HCC Infotech, Hincon Technoconsult, Hincon Realty, Hincon Holdings, Ucchar Investments, Western Securities, LAVASA Corporation, Motorsports Association of India, Constructmall.com, Champali Garden, Shalaka Investment and Gulabchand Foundation. He is a founding member of the World Economic Forum's Disaster Resource Network and a promoter of the Lavasa Township.
