Ajinkya Deo Biography

Ajinkya Deo is a noted actor of Marathi cinema, who has spent about 3 decades in the industry doing both lead and supporting roles. He is the son of veteran character actors of Bollywood - Ramesh Deo & Seema Deo. Abhinay Deo, the director of Delhi Belly fame is his younger brother. At present, he appears in the television series, 24 in which he portrays the role of Abhay Gupta. Aan: Men at work, Indrajeet, Phool Aur Angaar, Mr Ya Miss and Gair are his Bollywood movies, in which he played character roles. He has done over 100 films belonging to Marathi, Hindi, Telugu and English languages.

He comes from a family belonging to film background. Both his parents, Ramesh Deo & Seema Deo are respected names of Hindi and Marathi film industry. Yet he doesn’t have any theatre experience. He didn’t even think about joining film industry and learnt computer science abroad. But his debut movie changed everything. He started his career in the Marathi film industry in the year 1985. His first break was given by Rajdutt, who was a big name in the Marathi film industry. His first film’s name was Ardhangi (1985) which earned him the state award for best actor also. Thus he stayed in the industry.

Because of his love towards his mother tongue, he concentrated most on Marathi film industry, though he has appeared in Hindi and south Indian movies. When he signs a movie, only thing he notices is that his role should be engaging. He has also appeared in lead roles in a few Marathi movies like "Vasudev Balawant Phadke". Sarja (1987) telling the story of Sivaji the great is his most memorable movie.
