Ajay Ashok Gogavale Biography

Ajay Ashok Gogavale along with his brother Atul Ashok Gogavale forms the successful music director duo of Bollywood - Ajay-Atul.  They have also composed many songs for Marathi films as well and won their first national award for best music director for the Marathi film – Jogwa in 2009. They have also composed many songs for television shows. They also score background music for films. Made their debut in 2004 with the film Gayab as music director, they debut Marathi film industry the same year through Aga Bai Arrecha. Aga Bai Arrecha was the first movie for which they composed background score also. Marathi film Naṭarang is one of their major works where the brothers composed music and background score.

 

Ajay is the elder brother. His father worked in revenue department. Ajay was born in Pune in 1976. Later his childhood and younger days were spent in many places of Maharashtra. They lived in the place where their father was posted in the revenue department. Since young Ajay performed aside his brother Atul and their professional career began by Dhol Thasha in Ganeshutsav in Pune. Since young the brothers got attracted to music and were not interested in academics. They did not have a musical background, and didn’t receive support from family as well. Yet the brothers developed deep interest in music since school days.

 

They started performing for school, temples, local bands etc. During college days they worked as music arrangers for local music bands. Later the brothers moved to Mumbai, and worked on a music album, "Vishwavinayaka" which gave them big break to music scene. They also worked for commercial jingles, ballets and advertisements. They composed songs for Bollywood films - Gayab, Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav, Viruddh... Family Comes First, Agneepath, Bol Bachchan, Singham, My Friend Pinto, PK, Brothers etc. Most recently they composed music for Marathi blockbuster – Sairat. Shuddhi is their upcoming Bollywood work.
