Aishwarya Sivachandran Biography

Aishwarya Sivachandran, popularly known as Aishwarya is a south Indian film actress who has appeared both in lead roles as well as supporting actress. She is the daughter of noted Indian actress, Lakshmi, of Julie fame. During 1990’s, she debut big screen, worked in a few movies as lead actress and later moved to character roles. She has played both negative and positive roles. She reached big screen doing bit roles in Malayalam and Tamil and gained instant success with Malayalam movie – Butterflies, opposite Mohanlal. In this super hit comedy, she played double role of sisters and her role was well received.

She was born as Shanta Meena Bhaskar in Chennai to Malayali father K Bhaskaran and south Indian actress Lakshmi. Yaragudipati Varada Rao, famous film maker was her maternal grandfather. Aishwarya's first released film is Oliyambukal (Malayalam) in 1990, where she played supporting role. It was followed by Mamagaru (1991), Rasukutty (1992) and Meera (1992) belonging to Malayalam and Tamil languages. She played the role of Meera in Tamil movie, Meera. ‘Butterflies’ released in 1993 was her big break to the film industry, followed by the supporting role in Jackpot the same year, where she played Mammootty’s wife’s role. Thus in the same year, she got opportunity to work as lead heroine of both the leading actors of Malayalam.

However she took a break from Malayalam industry and moved to Tamil, Kannada and Hindi. Gardish by Priyadarshan in 1993 marked her Bollywood debut. She returned to Malayalam only in 2000, playing supporting roles in Mohanlal and Mammootty’s movies – Narasimham and Dada Sahib respectively. Later she appeared in movies like Praja, Notebook, Inspector Garud, Sharjah to Sharjah, Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla etc. Uchithanai Muharnthaal, Sabari and Pazhani are her recent appearances in Tamil. Thendral, Paarijatham and Mama mapile are her popular television serials.
