Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala Biography

Ahmed bin Abdullah Balala is a well-known politician from the newly formed south Indian state Telangana. He is currently a Member of Telangana Legislative Assembly representing Malakpet constituency. He is a member of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen. He has also served as the Member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly during 2009–2014 representing the same constituency, before the formation of Telangana state. Ahmed bin Abdullah Balala is known to be a prominent and influential Muslim leader from the state.

Ahmed bin Abdullah Balala was born in Hyderabad, Telangana, in the year 1967. He started his political career as a student leader in the 1980s. He has been a member of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen since then. His party stood for state assembly elections for the first time in 1989 and got defeated. The party unsuccessfully contested 1994 state assembly elections too. Ahmed bin Abdullah Balala joined state assembly for the first time as an MLA of Andhra Pradesh in 2009 elections. He defeated Muhammad Muzaffar Ali Khan of Telegu Desam Party, when he contested on All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen ticket.

In 2011, he came to limelight for the resistance to Archaeological Survey of India’s demolition of the shops and encroachments around the Badshahi Ashurkhana. It created havoc in the city. In 2014 he successfully campaigned for his party in Maharashtra state assembly elections and managed to won two seats as well. In February 2016, a case was registered against him for allegedly attacking Amjed Ullah Khan of the Majlis Bachao Tehreek. The following month, Balala urged the government to relax the helmet rules for motorcyclists during hot summer season.
