Agnimitra Paul Biography

Agnimitra Paul is a leading fashion designer from West Bengal, India. Paul started her career in 2001-02 and has designed for Sridevi for her personal wardrobe. She designed for the Bollywood film "Via Darjeeling" and has done 10 Tollywood movies as a costume designer. She started her own fashion label named ‘INGA’ after graduation and retailed in stores in major cities across India. Paul is married to Partho Paul, an industrialist.

Paul was born in Asansol, West Bengal. She studied at Loreto Convent in Asansol and then had an MBA from Jadavpur University. But later she did a Diploma from the Fashion School of the Birla Institute of Liberal Arts & Management Sciences and took fashion as her career. She started her career in 2001. Soon after graduation, she started her own fashion label named ‘INGA’ and now it’s one of the leading retailers in India. Her big break in the film industry was for the movie - Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche where she designed some costumes for the debutant actress - Esha Deol. She also designed costumes for the contestant Shonal Rawat for Femina Miss India pageant. Later she moved to Bengal film industry and has designed costumes for leading film stars like Mithun Chakraborty, Rituparna Sengupta, Jeet, Koel Mallick, Swastika Mukherjee and many more.

She gifted beautiful shawls and blanket to US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton during her Kolkata visit in 2012. The former first lady acknowledged the gift and thanked her. Though she loves cooking, she is not at all a cooking expert. She personally believes that’s always better to choose the life partner by oneself.
