Aditya Raj Kapoor Biography

Aditya Raj Kapoor is a Bollywood actor and director, and a member of the famous Kapoor filmy family.
He is the son of youth icon of 1960s – Shammi Kapoor and his wife, Geeta bali, who was also a leading
actress of her time. He worked as an assistant director in several Hindi films and directed two English
films - Shamaal, Don't Stop Dreaming and Sambar Salsa, both in 2007. He started his career as an
assistant director under his uncle Raj kapoor for the movie, Bobby in 1973 followed by Satyam Shivam
Sundaram in 1978 and has worked for the movies, Geraftaar, Saajan, Dil Tera Aashiq, Papi Gudia and
Aarzoo. He also owns a truck and warehouse business, and is also into construction business.

Aditya Raj Kapoor was born to actor Shammi Kapoor and Geeta Bali. Many of his family members are
legendary actors and filmmakers of Bollywood, and still successful in the industry. He is the grandson of
actor Prithviraj Kapoor, and nephew of Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor. Actors Rishi Kapoor, Rajiv Kapoor,
Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, Sanjana Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor are his first cousins. He is uncle of
actors Ranbir Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor who have established themselves as iconic
actors of Bollywood.

Aditya Raj Kapoor started his film career as a child artist through the film, Jabse tumhe dekha hai. As he
was not interested to face camera, he moved behind it and turned an assistant director with early
1970s. He started off as an assistant director under his uncle for the landmark movie, Bobby. He worked
as an assistant director till late 1990s and took a break from the industry. After a hiatus from Bollywood
he made a comeback as a film director through a couple of English films in 2007. Currently he plays
supporting roles in Bollywood films. He acted in Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, Diwangi Ne Had Kar Di, Isi Life
Mein etc.
