Adhi (tamil Rapper) Biography

Adhithya Ramachandran Venkatapathy, shortly called Adhi is a young music composer based on Chennai. He along with Jeeva R forms the successful duo of Tamil music and they are together known by the name, Hiphop Tamizha, known for rap and hip hop music. Both born in the year 1991, they are among the youngest composers of Tamil music industry. Apart from composing music, they also deliver performance as singers and have composed and sang for Tamil movies. The duo is active in the music scene since 2010. Hip Hop Tamizhan, Vanakkam Chennai (film), International Tamizhan, Aambala (film), Thani Oruvan (film) etc are among their notable compositions.

He was born on 20 February 1991. Adhi’s family originally belongs to Coimbatore. He was born into a middle class family with no music background. Once he listened to Michael Jackson's "Jam", and he got drawn towards music. He got interested in hip hop music since the age of 15, while studying in class 10. After that he started uploading rap songs on net for which he received positive responses. He did his works in Tamil. He used "Hiphop Tamizha" id on you tube for video sharing, as he wanted to hide this new interest from his parents, as they initially opposed his idea to join music industry. But later he moved to Chennai to find his luck with his father’s blessing.

He met Jeeva through Orkut in 2005, who adopted the moniker "Jeeva Beatz”. Both were equally interested in music and hence they decided to work together. Adi released Viswaroobam Arambam in the mid-2000s, which is considered the first Tamil hip hop mixtape and was a great success too. Once Tamil Nadu State Election Commission to compose an election anthem, and that’s how they came to limelight. Till then the duo hid their identity. Jeeva is of shy nature and seldom made public appearances during the early days.

Regarded as the pioneers of hip hop music in Tamil, they released the first album, Hip Hop Tamizhan in 2012. It was a major success and it was publicized as "India's first Tamil hip hop album". The duo composed the music while Adi wrote the lyrics. The album also featured singers like Chitra, Harini etc. The album was regarded as a landmark in Tamil hip hop scene. "Thapellam Thappe Illai" composed by Vijay Antony for Naan (2012) marked his singing debut. Since then the duo is quite popular in film scene too.
