Abrid Shine is a promising director of Malayalam who shot to fame with his debut movie – 1983, released in 2014, paying a tribute to the cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, when he retired from all forms of cricket. It was a luminous tribute by Malayalam film industry to this cricketer and brought several nostalgic moments of 1983 World Cup win. 1983 – was praised by audience and critics alike for its wonderfully woven script, outstanding performance by actors including Nivin Pauley and its nostalgic music. Abrid Shine received Kerala State awards for best debutant director. The movie also accumulated numerous awards and gave Nivin Pauley, the best memorable role till then and state awards for best actor. The film in fact started Nivin’s dream run where he has been giving hits one after the other - Om Shanti Oshana, Bangalore days, Oru Vadakkan Selfie and the latest Premam.

Abrid has announced his next project - Action Hero Biju with Nivin Pauley once again in the lead role. Nivin plays the role of a sub-inspector for the first time and he is paired with Anu Emmanuel of Swapna Sanchari fame. It’s Anu’s debut movie as a heroine. Expectations are high as Abrid Shine-Nivin Pauley’s maiden project ‘1983’ received high appreciation from critics and viewers and won several awards including state award for best actor and debut director.

Shine is a well-known fashion photographer, who has worked with India’s leading woman’s magazine – Vanitha. Later he assisted Lal Jose for the anthology film, Kerala Café where Lal directed the segment, Puramkazhchakal. Veteran actors – Mammootty and Sreenivasan shared screen space for that wonderful segment. Then Shine made a promising debut through the movie as a director - ‘1983’, for which he won both state awards and SIIMA awards for best debutant director. The movie narrates the life story of Rameshan who tries to achieve his passion of cricket through his son. And the director says that he couldn’t sleep on the night before the release of 1983 and later the movie was exhibited in Indian Panorama.
