Abir Goswami Biography

Abir Goswami was a popular television actor associated with Hindi entertainment industry. He is best known for the roles he played in the popular TV shows, Kkusum, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii etc. He was a very successful dubbing artist and has also done character roles in a few Bollywood films, before he passed away in May 2013 following a cardiac arrest while using a treadmill. He was only 37 and fully active in the industry when he passed away so expectedly.

Abir Goswami was born on 21 April 1976 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He started off his television career with the popular show, Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii, where he portrayed the character Ranjeet. Later he was seen in the popular TV soaps - Kkusum as Sandeep Gujral, C.I.D. as Raghav and Laksh Kumar, Kumkum as Asit Sengupta, Hotel Kingston as Sujit and many more. He was quite active in the television scene throughout the years, and earned recognition playing the role of Kailash Gupta in Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara. The show made him a household name among television audiences. Abir also appeared in Bollywood films – Ungly, Kakee, Lakshya, Legend of Bhagat Singh etc.

Known to be a fitness freak he passed away at a gym in Mumbai on 31 May 2013, following a cardiac arrest. He collapsed while running on a treadmill. It was a great shock to television industry when he died so expectedly at an age of only 37. The actor is known for carrying an effervescent smile on his face always, and had good friends from the industry. He was married to Koyal Goswami. Though there were reports of Lymphoma and some sort of a Rheumatic heart disease in the past, his wife denied all these. His death also raised the issue of long working hours and dreadful work conditions afforded to television actors.
