Abhishek Banerjee Biography

Abhishek Banerjee is a Bollywood actor best known for playing supporting and comic roles onscreen. His comic role as Mahinder Rajput, Nushrat Bharucha’s brother in 2019 blockbuster – Dreamgirl, earned him fame and recognition. He is also a casting director in the industry and has spent more than a decade in the industry. Kalank is his most recent work as a casting director. He was one of the writers of 2018 flick, Pari. Rang De Basanti in 2006 marked his screen debut in the brief role of a student, and he began his career as a casting director 4 years later with Knock Out.

Abhishek Banerjee hails from Delhi. He had stint in theatre while at Delhi, before joining films as an actor in year 2006. He was seen as one of the students auditioning for a documentary role in his debut flick, Rang De Basanti in 2006. As an actor he struggled for many years till Dreamgirl happened in 2019. However he succeeded as a casting director in the industry. He was the casting director of movies such as Kalang, Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture, Gabbar Is Back, Rock On 2, Secret Superstar, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Ok Jaanu etc. He also played brief roles in some of them.

He acted in short films - Fuddu Boys and Agli Baar in 2015. TVF Pitchers in 2015, Mirzapur in 2018 and Typewriter in 2019 are some of his works for web series. As an actor some of his recent releases are Bala, Dream Girl, Arjun Patiala etc. He worked with Ayushman Khurrana in two of his most recent back-to-back hits – Bala and Dream Girl.
