Abhimanyu Singh Biography

Abhimanyu Singh is a noted actor of Bollywood known for portraying character and negative roles. Noted Bollywood actor Chandrachur Singh is his elder brother. As a Bollywood actor Abhimanyu is best known for playing the role of Ransa Singh in critically acclaimed Gulaal (2009), directed by Anurag Kashyap. Bukka Reddy in Rakta Charitra (2010) the following year added his popularity. Onir's I Am and Ramleela are other noted works. Abhimanyu has got privilege to work with almost all leading Bollywood directors including Ram Gopal Varma, Sanjay leela Bansali, Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, Mahesh Bhatt, Sanjay Gupta and Anurag Kashyap. He has also done positive roles in movies like Aalap. Rakta Charitra is regarded as his best role up to date.

Apart from Bollywood, this good-looking and intense performer is also associated with south Indian cinema and television and equally popular for playing grey and negative shaded roles as well. He was last seen in television series - Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat (2014). Jazbaa is his latest Bollywood release and he was also seen playing a negative role in Vikram’s latest release – 10 Endrikulle (2015). Velayudham, Dookudu, Nenu Naa Rakshasi etc are some of his roles from south.

Abhimanyu Singh was born in Patna, Bihar. Following his brother, Abhimanyu too chose Bollywood as his career. His brother Chandrachur Singh has already made a debut in the late 1990s though not very successful. The experimental film, Aks in 2001 marked his Bollywood debut and he struggled to get good roles for a few more years till Gulaal happened to him in 2009. There was no turning back after that. He has also acted in a few television series like Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Upanishad Ganga etc. He is married to Sargam Singh since 2008.
