Abhimanyu Mithun Biography

Abhimanyu Mithun is an Indian cricket player who plays in international matches. He plays for Karnataka team in the first class cricket. He is a right arm fast medium bowler and got a place in the Indian team for the first time in 2009 when he played in a test match against South Africa.

 

Abhimanyu Mithun was born on 25th October 1989 in Bangalore. His father’s name is Malaiah Abhimanyu and his mother’s name is Kavitha. His father has a gym and he practiced there to become an athlete. Initially as a teenager, he concentrated in the discus throw event. He participated in few state level competitions but could not shine in that.

 

He did not have any intention of becoming a cricketer until the age of 17. It was because of the advice of one of his friends that he wanted to try his hands in cricket. His played his debut match at Bhamashah Stadium in Meerut for Karnataka team against Uttar Pradesh. In that season, he grabbed 47 wickets leading Karnataka team to finals of Ranji Trophy. He was able to prove his talents in that session with 11/181 with 6 wickets in the first innings and 5 in the second with a hat-trick.

 

As his normal bowling speed of 140 kph he is often called affectionately as Express Bowler. He was called to the national team in 2010 when Sreesanth was injured. He played against South Africa on 27th February 2010 at Ahmedabad. However he failed to give remarkable presence in that match. Later on 18th July 2010, he played his test debut against Sri Lanka. Though India lost in that match, he grabbed 4 wickets in the first innings and became one of the successful bowlers of the Indian team.

 

The IPL matches brought him to the forefront. He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore team in IPL. The coach of the team Ray Jennings always adores his talents. He is in and out of the Indian team as per the needs but has great potentials that he is expected to come to the front one day.
