Abhijeet Sawant Biography 
If someone writes about the history of Indian reality shows, no one can leave the name of Abhijeet Sawant! Yes, he is the first Indian winner of reality shows, based on audience’ voting and sms. It happened long back in 2005, when Sony Television started a new program in India – Indian Idol, adopted from American Idol. It was a new program to Indian audience as best singer was chosen solely based on viewers’ opinion and this program became a great success in Indian Television too – a new path setter. When Abhijeet Sawant became the winner of the first season of Indian Idol, a new history was already written in golden letters. Though he was not among the strong contestants in the primary stages, he emerged as the ‘black hero of the race’ and with his killing smile and romantic voice, he conquered millions of hearts during the final episodes of the program.
As promised, his album was released by Sony Television networks next year and he got 1 crore rupees contract too. The songs ‘Mohabbatein lutaoonga’ and ‘Labzom mein keh naa sakoom’ of the album – Aap ka Abhijeet. Very soon, he represented India is the singing talent competition ‘Asian Idol’ and came in the third position too. He has later participated in many reality competitions like Jo jeeta wohi superstar of Star Plus, though he finished second. This unique show co-operated winners and final contestants of many reality shows – a unique attempt to bring best of the best and very soon we saw many similar programs being aired in different television channels of India.
In 2007, Abhijeet Sawant released his second Album ‘Junoon’ and its title track became a huge hit in India. He debut Bollywood as a singer for the song ‘Mar jaawa’ of Aashiq Banaya Apne and as a leading hero, his first movie ‘Lottery’ bombed at box office. This movie based on a reality show was not received by the audience.
About his personal life – He married his girl friend Shillpa Sawant and they together are living in eternal bliss. Throughout the years since he has participated in Indian Idol, he has always work hard and corrected his mistakes and that’s the reason why, even after getting fame within a short time, Abhijeet Sawant still stays as ‘Abhijeet Sawant’. Whenever he participates in some singing contests, he wins all judges’ heart and that’s the reason why, though starting his career with Kishore Kumar style of singing and voice, he attained all successes in a short time that other people of his age can simply dream about.
