Abdul Khaleque Biography

Abdul Khaleque is an Indian politician from the state of Assam, affiliated to Indian National Congress. He currently serves as a parliamentarian in the 17th Lok Sabha headed by Narendra Modi and represents Barpeta constituency. He has formerly served as an MLA of Assam twice representing Jania state legislative constituency. He studied from Gauhati University and Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation. He is a Journalist, Writer, Politician and Social worker by profession. He is an education promoter also. He has published a few books too.

 

Assamese politician Abdul Khaleque was born on 1 February 1971 in Barbhitha GP, Assam. Khaleque is a member of the Indian National Congress. Sohrab Ali and Sabura Khatun are his parents. He married Kamlani Khaleque in 2011 at the age of 40 and has one son and one daughter. His schooling was completed from Bartary LP School and Langla HS School. He completed his graduation and Master’s in Assamese literature. He later completed MA in International Relations.

 

He got into active politics after year 2000. He successfully contested 2006 state assembly elections and became a legislator for the first time representing 44 no Jania, Barpeta district. He contested state assembly elections for the second time in 2016 from the same constituency and got elected too. Both times he represented INC. In 2019 he resigned his MLA position to successfully contest general elections on Indian National Congress ticket and joined parliament for the first time in 2019. As a legislator he opposed the proposed dissolution of the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha and also proposed that the government provincialize all venture schools. He is also known for promoting education.
