Aascar Ravichandran Biography

The original name of Aascar Ravichandran also known as Oscar Ravichandran is Viswanathan Ravichandran. He hailed from Vellore and was looking after the film distribution company of his father in Vellore for more than 20 years before he evolved into a film producer. He was very ambitious but always preferred staying out of the limelight. He stays away from most of the public functions including the audio launch of his own films and does not like being photographed.

He started his venture in film production by co producing the film Kadhalukku Mariyadhai in 1998 which was a big success. He founded the film distribution company in 2008 and named it Oscar Films. But he had to face opposition from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Due to their cease and desist order, he changed the name to Aascar Films. He also changed his company logo Academy Award trophy. His office is located at Ashok Nagar in Chennai.

He is considered to be a very lucky man in the film industry. He had produced many smash hit films including Vanathai Pola, Roja Kootam, Anniyan, Dasavathaaram, Vaaranam Aayiram, etc. Due to many high budget films, his Aascar Films has become the biggest banner in Kollywood film industry. He started his career in film distribution by distributing and popularizing Jackie Chan movies in South Indian and has distributed more than 200 films.

Ravichandran is always interested in producing high budget commercial films. He spends millions of rupees for every film and tries to impress the viewers by the extravaganza and emerges out as a winner in almost all his films through this formula.

He entered Malayalam film industry lately in 2011 by producing the film Lucky Jokers starring Suraj Venjara Mood, Jagadheesh, Ajmal and Geeth directed by Sunil.
