Aarya Ambekar Biography

Aarya Ambekar is a young singer from Maharashtra, who was the finalist of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi L'il Champs aired on Zee Marathi during 2008-2009. Apart from a few Marathi movies, she has also rendered her voice for a few album songs. She regularly sings at public concerts at present. Pancha Ratna – 3 volumes, Aathava Swar, Marathi Abhimaangeet, Geet Tujhe Gata Gata, Garjati Sahyadriche Kade and Hum Aur Tum are among her private albums. She has sung for the popular Marathi movie, Balgandharva. In 2011, she won Big Marathi Rising Star Award (Music) and in 2010, Punyaratna - Yuva Gaurav Award and Haribhau Sane Award. She is a recipient of "Manik Varma Scholarship" too, becoming the youngest singer for this achievement.

 

She was born in Mumbai. Her father is a doctor and her mother is a musician. Her grandmother too is a classical vocalist and thus she inherited the talent of music from her mother’s family. At a young age itself she exhibited her singing talent and for the same reason, she started her lessons of music at the age of 5. Aarya appeared her first examination in Music the following year. She took formal lessons of music from her mother, Shruti Ambekar.

 

She auditioned for the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi L'il Champs in the year 2008, for the age group, 8 and 14. At first she became one among the 50 finalists and made it to top 10 and top 5. She got the nick name "Pretty Young Girl" through the show. Her performance for the song "Paan Khae Saiyyan Hamaro" created records by reaching ‘Varcha Ne’.
