Aamir Bashir Biography

Aamir Bashir is a Bollywood director and film actor known for character roles. He made his directorial debut in 2010 with the Urdu movie, Harud which earned him National award for best regional film in Urdu for 2010. The movie based on Kashmir was premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. He essayed the role of a police inspector in Neeraj Pandey’s A Wednesday which earned him a Screen Awards nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Armaan in 2003 was his first noted Bollywood movie, followed by Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Frozen, The Great Indian Butterfly, A Wednesday, Peepli live and Raat Gayi Baat Gayi. He has also appeared in many television serials since late 1990’s.

 

Bashir was born and raised in Kashmir. His father served as the Chief Justice of Jammu High Court. He graduated from St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi. He made his acting debut through television appearing in minor roles. He also acted in numerous television ads in the late 1990’s. Bhanwar was his first small screen appearance and 'Alpaviram' was his first noticed role on small screen. He played pivot roles in television shows like Alpviram and Sarhadein.

 

He made his film debut through Split Wide Open (1999) in a supporting role. Armaan was his first noticed Bollywood movie. He is not at all interested in doing television serials nowadays for the bad scripts. He is not at all interested in doing reality shows as well. Neeraj pandey called him for a television show years back. But unfortunately it didn’t happen. But Neeraj gave him the most memorable role of his Bollywood career in the form of ‘A Wednesday’.
