Aamani Biography

Aamani Hazrath is an Indian actress associated with Telugu and Tamil cinema. Blockbuster hit, Jamba Lakidi Pamba, directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana marked her successful acting debut as a heroine. After that she went on to become one of the top heroines of 1990s. She has also appeared in a few Tamil movies and one Kannada movie. Subha Lagnam – released in 1994 helped her to bag Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu for the first time. Her real name is Manjula and it was changed to Aamani by E. V. V. Satyanarayana, during her film debut. She is also known by the name Meenakshi. She came to limelight following a television interview of her sister-in-law on TV9, where Aamani was accused of harassing her sister-in-law.

 

Aamani was born in Karnataka in 16 November 1973 as Manjula. She is married to Tamil film producer Hazrath. She started her film career doing bit roles since early 1990s. Aadadhi was one of her earliest appearances. Jamba Lakidi Pamba, directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana marked her career beginning as a heroine. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster establishing Aamani as a star. Subsequently she was paired with almost all leading heroes of 1990s including - Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, Krishna, Jagapathi Babu and Kamal Haasan.

 

She received Nandi Award for Best Actress twice and Filmfare award once. She bagged Andhra Pradesh state award for the movies - Mr. Pellam in 1993 and Subha Sankalpam in 1995. She got married to Tamil film producer Hazrath and settled with her family life.  The film Aa Naluguru marked her re-entry to film industry after a hiatus of many years.
