A. M. Turaz Biography

A. M. Turaz is a poet and lyricist who writes for television serials apart from Bollywood films. He is often called a romantic poet. Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamaana of 2007, The Unforgettable of 2009, Guzaarish of 2010, Jackpot (2013) and the most recent Bajirao Mastani (2015) are some of his Bollywood works. He penned the songs – “Aayat", "Ab Tohe Jane Na Doongi" and “Aaj Ibaadat" for the historic movie - Bajirao Mastani. "Tera Zikr", "Udi" and "Kabhi Jo Badal Barse" are some of his chartbusters. He has also penned lyrics for ads and some private albums too.

 

He was born on 19th September 1981 in Muzaffarnagar, UP. He is a native of Miranpur, where he spent his childhood and teens. After studies he moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in writing lyrics for movies. He started off with television serials in 2005 and bagged a few Bollywood movies as well, though not noticed during his struggling period. Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamaana released in 2006 was his first Bollywood movie. Later he penned lyrics for less known movies like Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamaana, Ruslan and Bollywood flops like Vaada Raha and Jail.

 

In 2010, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzarish was released. It included the popular song – Udi pictured on Aishwarya Rai, penned by Turaz. The song was a chartbuster and his work got appreciated. Later they teamed up once again for Bajirao Mastani (2015) to give some memorable songs. In 2013, he wrote the memorable romantic track "Kabhi Jo Badal Barse" for Sunny Leone starrer Jackpot, which was a chartbuster. He has also penned lyrics for albums for Yaseen Darbar, Ismail Darbar and Reath Band.
