How to keep fit in winters

It is perhaps a big problem in some parts of our country, where the temperature goes down to almost freezing point, particularly in northern India. The main problems due to winters relate to dry skin, torn lips as one and cold cough and flue on the other hand makes life tough. There are many other problems, which we have to face on day-to-day basis, which can be kept away with a little precaution.

Immune system- To keep fit you shall have to see that you do not suffer from cold and cough on regular basis because that is one of the main reasons of your bad immune system. You must change some of your present lifestyle to remain healthy and fit. Use of fruits and vegetables like oranges, carrots, green leafy vegetables etc containing vitamin A, C and E, dry fruits are apt in this season, which must help your immune system to great extent. You should spend some time under the sun to use vitamin D provided by nature apart from other sources like eggs, soy, and pulses.

Drink enough water- Yes, you read me right, most people do not drink enough water in winters because body does not demand it due to cold weather but the fact is that low moisture level decrease the level of water in the body. If you do not drink enough water, it can lead to dehydration, which can cause dryness in skin, lungs and membranes of throat mucous. Hydrated membranes keep respiratory diseases away that helps keep your immune system right.

People sitting using artificial heating system are more prone to dehydration and should drink more water, soups, juices or herbal tea etc to keep away from dehydration. Green tea, soy drinks, lemon slices mixed with water or lemon juice help keep your body hydrated but avoid excessive use of coffee as it reduces pH level in your blood.

Exercising properly is one good way that keeps your immune system and body well heated up, which is must in winters. If you have no physical problem that prevents you from running a run is one of the best ways to keep fit other wise jogging or walking at brisk pace helps you keep fit in any weather especially in winters.
