Who Am I

We are observing the world of object but are not aware of the subject that we observe where the world of objects is. Learn to observe the movement of the self. Observe the ‘self’. Then you find that the self or the soul is not just the body or mind but a space, in which the body and mind exists. This inner space has no form but appears to take the form of the body and thoughts. Similar to, the space in a room appears to be limited by the room but room exists in space. So too, body exists in this inner space.

To experience this more deeply start by asking “Who is in?” every time you ask, “Who is in?, leads you to a new awareness of your state of being. If your state of being is restless, then you make it restful. You are restless and not aware that you are restless. This leads to a bigger problem. Always be aware who is inside you, a clam being or a restless being? Then this discipline will lead you to a bigger question to “Who am I?”

This will lead you to an understanding that your ego is blocking the bigger picture of who you are.

A Story which is related:

A fanatic Christian... not a wise Christian went to a Buddist monk and taught him the bible. Each time the missionary read out from the bible the Buddist monk had tears in the eyes and started saying, “What a wonderful Truth”

The fanatic Christian was very happy. He thought to himself that he had done a great job and he would return the very next day to convert him.

That evening he went to the church and prayed to lord and said, “Oh, Lord I got a Buddhist monk confess that you are the Son the God and that you are divine.”

The Lord’s replied, “does this act inflated your Christian ego or reduced your ego.”

A true Christian, Hindu, Buddhist or Muslim should reduce one’s ego and finally have no ego. That  is the essence of enlightened living.
