Piping and fitting – while constructing a new home purchase of these two things need special care. Taps are available of different models and price ranges. It depends up on you to choose as per your requirement and budget. But it’s to be noted that low quality taps cause leakage easily giving you headache and loss of water too. So, if you buy cheap taps to save a little money, it will surely give you double expenses in future.

Taps can be broadly classified according to two types – frequently used ones and less used ones. You can adjust with cheap taps for less used ones, but never compromise with frequently used taps, particularly those to be fitted in kitchen, wash room and bathrooms. Brass taps with chromium coated ones are good for our health. So, use such taps in your kitchen compulsorily. Avoid white metal coated taps. Poisonous substance may mix with water. 

Aerators used for the taps should be made of stainless steel of good quality, otherwise it may catch rust. Common problem in taps is leakage after closing. But such problems won’t arise if you choose branded ones as they give warrantee too.

Taps are of different types – full turn, half turn or quarter turn. Quarter turn tapes are most efficient. Mixed taps that combine hot water and cold water are usually fixed in bathrooms with heater. Such taps can be used for kitchen purposes too, if you belong to cold climate of North India. For kitchen you can use anyone of floor mounted or wall mounted as per your taste. Nowadays sink is available in different varieties costing in lakhs too. In some kitchens, double sinks are used. If so, a single tap can be turned to either sinks for cleaning dishes. You can place detergent mixed plates in one sink thus making it convenient for use. Pullout taps for kitchen are also available in modern style ones.

You can fix sprout length taps for wash basins, but choose one with right size. Taps with the effect of stream is the latest trend. Such foaming water taps are commonly used for kitchen and wash basin. They are bit expensive comparing normal ones, but saves a lot of water consumption too.
