What Can You See In Jaipur

Jaipur – the capital of Rajasthan is also known as Pink city of India. This city is famous for its palaces built according to ancient architecture. It may take two or three days to enjoy the beauty of palaces fully. Though it’s the capital city, you can still see people wearing Dhoti, turbans, colourful sarees and accessories in the city, making us remember those old days of prosperity.

Amber Fort

Among all forts, Amber fort is most famous and it is just 16 km away from capital city. This fort was built by Raja Man Singh and his descendants stayed there for one and a half century, renovating according to their wishes and latest architecture. Obviously this fort has the finger prints of different cultures and fine blend of them all. It combines both Hindu and Mughal Architecture. This fort has four stages - Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Sheesh Mahal and a temple inside for the Goddess Siladevi. Outside the fort you can see a lot of tourists, elephants and local people selling their traditional items.

City Palace

City capital was shifted from Amber Fort to City Palace by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. City palace is a group of palaces and it may take hours to see it full. Maharani Mahal, Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal belong to City Palace group. Though the ground floors are kept open for tourists, descendents of Raja still live there. Mubarak Mahal was once the guest house of Raja Madho Singh. Now accessories of kings and queens are placed in Mubarak Mahal and tourists can see it. Maharani Mahal is now turned to an armory museum.

Shopping in Jaipur

Rajasthani meal is special and delicious with 25 items present – from butter to sweets and no one should miss it, if you visit Pink city. Jaipur stones and traditional Bandhini costumes are famous and if you have good bargaining power, you can purchase those items cheap from Johari Bazaar. Safari on camels and elephants are good if you can enjoy. Alberto Museum and Choki Dhani are places worth to see.

Hawa Mahal

This pyramid mahal with 953 windows is painted with deep red colour and this palace was built for ladies of royal family to enjoy processions comfortably sitting inside the palace. Obviously the mahal has about 1000 windows too that allowed free passage of air too. Was it an open prison for princesses of the palace?

If you want to visit this pink city, October to January is the best season. I am sure, you will return back with a lot of good moments to treasure.
