Love stories of Bollywood is quite an old topic, yet it has not lost its charm yet. From the oldest love story of Dev Anand and Surayya to the latest of Ranbir Kapoor Deepika Padukone break up, such break ups have always gained popularity. It may be because most of these actors have shared common screen and audience have seen them repeatedly onscreen. Through this column I would like to mention a few such love stories that have always gained public interest and never faded with passed time.

First one is of course Raj Kapoor-Nargis love affair. It’s rumored that the screen face of RK Banner is none other than Nargis. Together they have acted many movies like Aawara, Barsat and Shree 420 and their of screen chemistry was well noted in their movies too. As Raj kapoor was already a married man, the relationship didn’t kick off and died somewhere. Later Nargis fell in love with ‘her son of Mother India’. They were same aged persons and they got married. After their marriage she never kept relationship with Raj Kapoor. The love story of Dev Anand couldn’t have a happy ending as Surayya couldn’t resist the traditional religion values of her family and slowly Dev Anand moved away.

Same is the case of Dilip Kumar Madhubala relationship too. They never hid their relationship. As madhubala couldn’t resist her parents their love story didn’t blossom though they look amazing as a pair in the movies like Mughal E Azam. Perhaps the love story of Amitabh bachchan-Rekha was the most discussed one. Amitabh was already a married man and father of two children. Though he didn’t express it openly, it was not enough to hide from the eyes of Page 3. Story of Sanjeev Kumar was just one sided! He was the most perfect gentleman of Bollywood. But Hema Malini rejected his marriage proposal as she was in deep love with married man and father of two children – Dharmendra. It’s told that Hema Malini has insisted on the director Ramesh Sippi of Sholay not to cast her and Sanjeev Kumar together in one shot. Heartbroken Sanjeev Kumar stayed unmarried till his death at 46.
