Tips For Choosing Your Foods

Eating healthy means getting the right balance of nutrients your body needs for proper function day after day.Besides this, getting plenty of exercise is one of the best habits you can have. Sometimes it becomes hard to know what and how much to eat. Make smart choices from every food group. The best way to give your body the balanced nutrition it needs is by eating a variety of foods on a daily basis.

Focus on fruits: Eat a mixture of fruits, whether frozen, fresh, dried or canned, instead of fruit juice. Most women need two cups of fruit every day (for example, a small banana, one big orange and quarter cup peaches or dried apricots).

Change the vegetables: Eat dark green vegetables like broccoli and other thick green leafy vegetables and orange vegetables such as pumpkin, carrots, sweet potatoes, beans black, peas and lentils.

Calcium-rich foods: Three cups of low fat or an equivalent amount of low-fat yogurt and low-fat cheese (1 ½ ounces of cheese equals one cup of milk) each day.If you do not drink milk, choose lactose-free products or calcium-fortified foods.

Whole grains: Eat at least three ounces of whole grain cereals, breads or rice daily. One ounce equals one slice of bread, a cup of breakfast cereal, or ½ cup of cooked rice.

Choose proteins: Choose lean meats and some poultry items. Bake or broil is the same. But vary your protein choices with more fish, beans, peas, nuts and seeds.

Know your fats: Look for foods that are low in saturated and trans fats. Choose healthy fats found in olive oil, nuts, seeds and avocados.

Find your balance between food and physical activity that is right for you. Being healthy is not only eating healthier. Regular physical activity is important for your health and fitness. It helps control body weight by balancing the calories you take in food with the calories you burn each day. Be physically active for at least thirty minutes every day.

Increasing the quantum or the amount of time that you are bodily active can have much more health benefits for you.
