The Real Showman Of Bollywood - Raj Kapoor

 

Raj Kapoor – the eldest son of Kapoor family was perhaps the celebrity who has given maximum contribution to Hindi cinema world. Acting skills was alraedu running through his veins and he transmitted it to the next generations too, including Ranbir Kapoor of present cinema. He was a successful actor, director as well as a producer, giving restless contributions to Indian cinema, enough to name him as the showman of Indian cinema. Through this column, let me briefly describe Raj Kapoor as a good person, a good actor as well as an excellent director, who put basement to Bollywood on which at present it is standing. He has given many movies to Indian cinema that has own many international designations including the one at Cannes Film festival. Movies were Awara and Boot Polish.

 

Raj kapoor was born in Peshwar (now at Pakistan) and he, along with his brothers have given a lot of contributions to Bollywood, an untold promise that’s still kept through Karishma, Kareena and Ranbir. His brothers – Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor have also entertained we people a lot for the eras from 50’s to 90’s. Raj Kapoor entered silver screen as a child artist in black and white celluloid. As a leading actor, his first movie was Neel Kamal in 1947 opposite Bollywood queen Madhubala. He became the youngest director of silverscreen through Aag and was able to make it successful too, thus proving his versatility. He was paired with Nargis in that movie – a relationship that continued for an era or so. This lovely couple has given the precious stones of Bollywood cinema. Barsaat, Jagte raho, Chori chori, Shree 420 and Awara are still considered classics all time. They have also worked together for Anhonee, Ambar, Paapi and a few more films though not successful.  

 

Other successful films of Raj Kapoor as a director include Jis desh mein Ganga behti hai, Mera naam Joker, Kal Aaj aur Kal, Bobby, Satyam Sivam Sundaram, Prem rog, Ram teri Ganga maili and Sangham. Apart from Madhubala, Hema Malini also debuted opposite him with the movie ‘Sapnon ka saudagar’. Mandakini’s debut movie was ‘Ram tere gange maili’ directed by Raj Kapoor. As an actor, movies – Parvarish, Teesri kasam and Abhi Dilli door nahin are needed to complete his bibliography. Mukesh has sung for him most and Shankar-Jaikishen, the most successful composer.  In true terms, he was the real showman of Bollywood!
