The Mysore Palace

 

Mysore is one of the tourist spot in India. It is placed on Karnataka state. The name Mysore is an anglicised version of Mahishūruwhich means the abode of Mahisha in the Kannada language. Mahisha stands for Mahishasura, a mythological demon that could assume the form of both human and buffalo. According to Hindu mythology, the area was ruled by the demon Mahishasura The demon was killed by the Goddess Chamundeshwari, whose temple is situated atop the Chamundi Hills.Mahishūru later became Mahisūru and finally came to be called Maisūru, its present name in the Kannada language. In December 2005, the Government of Karnataka announced its intention to change the English name of the city to MysuruThis has been approved by the Government of India, but as of 2011 the formalities necessary to incorporate the name change were yet to be completed.

Mysore palace is one of the beautiful place in Karnataka. palace of Mysoreor the Amba Vilas Palace is a palace situated in the city of Mysore in southern India. It is the official residence of the Wodeyars - the erstwhile royal family of Mysore, and also houses two durbar halls .

 

The regent of Mysore, Maharani Vani Vilas Sannidhna, commissioned a British architect, Henry Irwin, to build yet another palace in its place.The construction was completed in year 1912. But slowly the beautification of the fort was also taken up and the inhabitants of the fort were slowly shifted out to newer Extension built outside. The present Public Durbar Hall wing was also added much later around 1940.

 

Dasara is the most extravagant festival of Mysore. The Dasara festival is celebrated in the months of September and October of each year. The festival celebrates and commemorates the victory of the great Goddess Durga, after she slew the demon, Mahishasura, and thereby, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil according to Hindu mythology. Some call her Chamundeshwari. This festival has been celebrated by the Wodeyars at Srirangapatna from 1610 and in Mysore with great pomp from 1799 and the tradition still is carried on although the scale of the celebrations has diminished. The Dasara festivities have become an integral part of the culture and life in Mysore. To celebrate this festival the Palace of Mysore is illuminated with more than 96,000 lights during that two month period.

 

The majority of avatars in this list of ten are categorised as 'lila-avatars'. The first four are said to have appeared in the Satya or Kritha Yuga (the first of the four Yugas or ages in the time cycle described within Hinduism). The next three avatars appeared in the Treta Yuga, the eighth and ninth incarnation in the Dwapara Yuga and the tenth in the Kali Yuga. The tenth is predicted to appear at the end of the Kali Yuga in some 427,000 years time.Also according to the Vishnu Purana and Bhagavata Purana, the Kali-yuga will end with the apparition of Kalki-avatara, who will defeat the wicked, liberate the virtuous, and initiate a new Satya or Kritha Yuga. So mysore palace is really beautiful and precious place in India. So touristors must visit the mysore palace.
