Rajinikanth is one of those types of people who rose from rags to riches. His unique dialogues and specific mannerisms are what that made him climb the ladder. He could get a permanent place in the hearts of the South Indian people through his tireless works and inimitable style of acting. He was originally born in a very poor modest family as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. Having lost his mother when he was five, he had to struggle to live. He had to support himself and so he took up odd jobs that came his way.

Rajinikanth started his career as a coolie and then he became the bus conductor in Karnataka transport service. He showed great interest in acting in dramas in that time and he got a chance to act as a villain in the film Apoorva Raagangal. This was not noticed by many people of that time and so he could not get any name for his initial film.

His advancement in the film industry was slow but steady. Now he is one of the highest paid actors in Asia. His recent film Enthiran was an all time blockbuster in the history of Tamil film industry. The president of India honored him with the Padma Bhushan award, the third highest civilian award in India.

He is one of the trendsetters of the film industry he belongs to. He is also a great philanthropist and funds the education of the poor and other charitable works. After a series of successful ventures, he had few failures also. There were rumors that his golden period in the film industry has ended permanently. But he came out of his failures and proved himself to be one of the luckiest and successful actors of the Indian film sector.

He had to face opposition from the regional political party, Pattali Makkal Katchi for smoking and drinking in the scenes of the films and for which his film reels were burnt down and the theaters were attacked. But his opponents could not show their anger against him for a long time as the support of the masses was for him.

He was expected to change the fate of the regional politics of Tamil Nadu. However, he is not interested in politics and wanted to set him limits with the cinema industry. But still, he gave his voice against some political parties during the elections. He also voiced for the Cauvery River issue and went on to fast for the same.

He had to face severe health deterioration during 2011 and was admitted into the hospital for renal failure and bronchitis. After many days of medical attention, he regained his health and has signed up for the new project Kochadaiyan, to be directed by his daughter Soundarya. His thoughts and deeds are oriented towards spiritualism that he has used to go to spiritual tour to Himalayas. He is a devotee of Lord Ragavendra. Though he has risen to the top of the ladder he is a simple and humble to the core.
