During 1990’s we have seen a lot of screen beauties on Bollywood screen. Perhaps it’s one among the best era of Bollywood beauties on silver screen. From Sridevi to Madhuri Dixit and from Aiswarya Rai to Manisha Koirala, a lot of Bollywood queens have ruled the Bollywood. So, let me give a brief description of these screen beauties.

Early 90’s saw the rising of Madhuri Dixit through her successful movies like Tezaab, Dil and Beta. After Mr.India, Chandini and Chaalbaaz Sridevi emerged as heroine no.1 of Bollywood in the late 80’s. But later she lost her first position to Maduri Dixit. Yet continued to remain as star beauty from Lamhe to Judai, her last appearance in a Bollywood film of 90’s in 1997.  Then we saw the rise of heroines like Manisha Koirala, Shilpa Shetty, Urmila Mathonkar, Raveena Tandom, Kajol, Divya Bharathi, Sonali Bandre, Mamatha Kulkarni, Karishma Kapoor and above above all, Aiswarya Rai through the flop movie, Aur pyar ho gaya in 1997. Juhi Chawla also ruled the industry though this former Miss.India came to silver screen in middle 80’s. Tabu and Meenakshi Sheshadri are remembered for their memorable roles than the screen beauty.

Beauty of Manisha Koirala was praised through her roles in 1942 A love story and Bombay. Everyone loved the glamorous role of Urmila’s superhit Rangeela. A.R.Rehman’s music also helped her a lot in her success. Karishma kapoor, after doing struggling roles in Bollywood reached stardom and no.1 position of Bollywood in 1997, after her superhit Raja Hindusthani in 1996. Then we saw a string of movies of Karishma kapoor – both hits and flops can be included in this list. Shilpa shetty became famous for her first few movies like Baazigar and Mein Khiladi Tu Anari, but couln’t retain the success though her screen presence was noted for her beauty. She became a successful heroine through Dadkan of 2000.

Raveena Tandon was a successful face that time, who got success with a few movies opposite Akshay Kumar like Mohra. Kajol was remembered for both her lovely eyes and natural acting through a string of movies opposite SRK like Baazigar, Karan Arjun and DDLJ and a few movies opposite her husband Ajay Devgan like Ishq.   

Perhaps the noticed face of late 90’s was Aishwarya Rai, who was noted for her beauty as well as performance in her movie Hum dil de chuke sanam. With the new decade, we saw new heroines ruling the industry – Kareena kapoor, Deepika Pathukone and Katrina Kaif.
