Suriya is a well known actor in Tamil film industry and debuted in the movie Nerukku Ner in 1996 at the age of 21. He is the son of the veteran film actor Sivakumar and with this identity he was watched by film critics with curiosity. He was successful in his venture soon that he has won Tamil Nadu State award three times and Filmfare Award three times. He was graduated in commerce from Loyola College at Chennai. After few years of his performance he had a long and romantic love affair with the famous actress Jyothika. As both of them had star value, their romance was one of the most talked about in the industry. This continues even after their marriage.

Suriya and Jyothika have acted in many films together and the first film in which they paired was Poovellam Kettu Paar. Totally they have performed together in seven movies that include Uyirile Kalandhadhu, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal and Kaakha Kaakha. The romantic scenes in the film Kaakha Kaakha was so original that it became the headlines of the gossip columns of magazines. It was during the shooting of that film that they fell in love with one another and when they were asked about this, they remained silent. However none of them deny the fact and at the same time, they did not accept openly.

The fans of Suriya and Jyothika were watching their love affair with great interest. Jyothika disclosed the affair and accepted they were in love with each other and have plans of marriage during an interview with the Telugu newspaper, Eenadu. Suriya when asked for said that he had planned to marry after the marriage of his sister. But Jyothika was absent in his sister’s marriage. This created the suspicion that Sivakumar was not interested in the affair and was not favorable to their marriage.

All the stories about them came to an end when they got married on 11^th September 2006 in Chennai Hotel Park Sheraton. The couple made a good pair with bride groom wearing silk dhoti and silk shirt and bride in gorgeous pink jari sari. They got blessings from their parents and the sacred thread was tied around the neck of Jyothika by Suriya around 7. A.M. The wedding ceremony was conducted as per the Hindu traditions and their photos featured almost all the South Indian magazines.

Many actors, actresses and politicians including M. Karunanidhi, J. Jayalalitha, Ajith and Shalini and Dhanush and Aishwarya were present during the occasion and so the place was under tight security. The fans who were aspiring to get a view of the bride and groom were not allowed inside as only those with invitations were permitted and so they had to go back disappointed. The newly wedded couple spent their honeymoon days in Europe.

Jyothika gave birth to a baby girl on 10^th August 2007 followed by a baby boy on 7^th June 2010. The girl was named Diya and the boy Dev. Suriya photos and Suriya videos with his beautiful family were found online in many websites. Jyothika stopped acting in films after her marriage and Suriya has become a prominent actor in Tamil film industry.
