There has been no looking back for Rohit Sharma this year. The year 2013 will always be give good memories to the Indian batsman. He has the ability to score big runs when it matters the most. However, it was only a matter of time before Rohit could come good. And all that came together in 2013.

So what are his achievements in the year 2013 and how could it prove to be a turning point?

Rohit Sharma guided Mumbai Indians to a memorable win that also was the last IPL for Sachin Tendulkar. The conditions were tough for the Mumbai team and so were the equations. But after the dismal outing of Ricky Ponting, Rohit Sharma was asked to lead the team and he ended up only after winning the cup.

The victorious Mumbai Indians team then marched off for yet another title. This time it was time for Champions League. With an able leader like Rohit Sharma at the helm and leading by example, there was little that the MI could do wrong. There were three other T20 teams from India in the Champions League with the Chennai Super Kings being led by M S Dhoni.

However, for once, it was time for Sharma and not Dhoni to scale the heights of success. Mumbai Indians were unstoppable and so was Rohit Sharma. Every move that he made was brining in results for him and it was without doubt that he couldn’t err for once.

However, when he played for India with Shikhar Dhawan in the Champions Trophy, India looked a totally different unit altogether. This opening pair was at its attacking best and almost was toying with the opposition bowling. This made batting very easy for the later batsmen as the two were carrying the bulk of the responsibility.

The same continued and Rohit had his best reserved against the Aussies. Beating his previous highest individual score, Rohit hit an unbeaten 141 runs in a chase of 359. As if that wasn’t enough, he went on to score a double century in ODIs becoming just the third batsman in the history.

Rohit Sharma also notched up an authoritative century on debut against the West Indies scoring 177 runs, 10 less than his ODI opening partner.
