Ravindra Jadeja - The Batsman Who Can Bowl

Ravindra Jadeja has been growing into a quality bowler. In the current series being played against Australia, he has proved his bowling abilities. It would be interesting to note that Jadeja had been included in the team after his triple ton in the domestic matches played in India. However, he has shined more as a bowler than a batsman.

He has been offering his bowling services to India more effectively than his batting.  He has played a vital part as a bowler in every match against Australia in this series. He has made Michael Clarke – the Aussie captain his bunny by picking his wicket on five occasions out of the six.

Let us have a look at his bowling figures:

First Test (First Innings)

Jadeja bowled 36 overs in the first innings of the first Test against Australia at Chennai. Sending down 10 maiden overs, Jadeja conceded 71 runs and picked up two wickets. He first removed the captain Clarke, who played a good innings of 130 and then got rid of Mitchell Starc.

First Test (Second Innings)

In the second innings, Jadeja bowled 31 overs, out of which only eight overs were maidens. By conceding 72 runs, he picked up three wickets of Phil Hughes, Peter Siddle and Nathan Lyon.

Second Test (First Innings)

Jadeja continued his magic with the ball as he got three wickets once again. The vital wickets he got were of Michael Clarke, Moises Henriques and Glenn Maxwell. In this innings, he bowled 16 overs and conceded 33 runs.

Second Test (Second Innings)

Another three wicket haul for Ravindra Jadeja and once again that included the wicket of Clarke. This time he got the opener Ed Cowan and Peter Siddle. To add to that he also ran out Henriques. He bowled 18 overs out of which 8 were maidens. His figures for both innings read 33-3.

Third Test (First Innings)

The first innings of the third Test also gave Jadeja three wickets. However, he had to toil hard this time. He got the three wickets after sending down 31 overs and giving away 77 runs. David Warner, Michael Clarke and Peter Siddle were the victims.

Third Test (Second Innings)

Jadeja dismissed Clarke for the fifth time in the series and again got 3 wickets. Henriques and Siddle were his victims for yet another time in the series. He got the three wickets in 16.2 over and conceding 35 runs.
