Patients not important

Patients have lowest priority for medicine companies; the markets are flooded with banned and inferior drugs. The samples are either not taken or not tested properly and the ones tested properly not found up to the standards set. Most companies are least concerned with patients’ health but busy making money, big money. You would be surprised to note that most medicines, which you take for your health improvement purpose, are not up to the mark, being sold on very high price than these should be.

Moreover, the worst part is that most medicines either do not have contents mentioned in exact quantity or have inferior stuff. Most of us do not know the darker sides of medicine manufacturing have to suffer from their bad business ethics although that is affecting our health adversely. We have multiple examples of such malpractices where companies found supplying inferior medicines in the market and their samples failed and some of their medicines/batches banned. However, that was only a very small part of whatever is going on to cheat patients, money and health wise.

Let us face the facts

Several medicines of different companies including imported medicines from Turkey and Korea have been found inferior and banned. The authorities have banned 22 brands within last three months, which were found substandard or not having salts declared on their labels. CDSCO, the central drug standard control organization has taken severe action in last few months after a strong reaction from public and private practitioners who are not getting proper response of certain medicines. The medicines suspected to be inferior/fake were then sent to five different central drug laboratories for testing.

You should know

As a consumer, you should know that Indian market is worth almost Rs twenty billon annually and companies try to increase their business by very aggressive marketing strategies by adapting different methods to overdo their last achievement. In process of breaking their own records they forget the ethics and laws and involve in practices neither fair not healthy for their consumers. They seem to have one simple formula in their strategy book, more patients, more sales and more profit. In fact, patient is only a consumer for them.
