Manoj Bajpai- Different From The Herd

No six pack abs but still successful

It’s hard to believe but Manoj Bajpai, the famous movie star has been challenging the stars studded Indian cinema world for almost last two decade. He in fact, proved the assumptions wrong that believed only heroes with six pack abs were good to become successful in Indian film industry. I can quote two of his movies, Satya and Bandit Queen that did well at box office and I am sure his upcoming movie Tevar will do as good as his other movies did. The movie is a love story but it deals with all about our male dominance of our society in matters like these.

What is Manoj’s point of view?

Manoj Bajpai is not in favor of formula films that has a set theme with nothing to offer new but so popular among our film makers. He likes to work in movies having a message for society and appealing topic for the masses within main stream cinema and close to realism. He is playing the role of a typical ‘strongman’ in Tevar with bad reputation in society but having good character otherwise as he does not want to force the girl he loves. The movie is a love triangle with another guy who is in love with the same girl but our hero does not use his muscle power but faces him as an ordinary person. That sounds like a realistic story and not the one where our heroes can fly in the air to meet their girls.

Manoj as an actor

There is no need to reintroduce Manoj Bajpai but for your ready reference who can forget him as Sardar Khan in Hindi movie Gangs of Wasseypur in which he goes and fights with Coal Mafia responsible for his father’s murder. The way he handled the situation was different from typical Hindi movies yet absolutely effective and brought desired result. I would like to mention Manoj’s philosophy of life at this point, ‘people do not control my thoughts but I go by my own instincts and body needs. I do not want to make my profession lacking interest or excitement so I take long breaks from time to time. True, it’s better to be someone different from the herd.
