Konkan - A Visit In Winters

Most visitors who want to get away to Goa to enjoy sunny beaches and Cashew Fenny during chilly winters in North India but they find nothing but ‘House Full’ boards in front of hotels and lodges. Goa used to be a good winter destination during October through March but as tour operators with their attacking marketing strategies have made it a place where it is almost impossible to get a good accommodation during summer holidays especially last week of December to 15th January tourists have no choice but to look for alternate destinations.

Koankan

 

Most people who wish to enjoy similar places look to Konkan as alternate of Goa where they can enjoy beautiful beaches, Konkani delicacies and Kokam drinks. The entire rout from Mumbai to Goa is known as Konkani area. Most people who wish to spend a few days during winter vacations can take the opportunity to take a motorboat ride from India Gate in Mumbai to Alibagh, Kihim Or Mandawa beaches situated only minutes away for fun filled experience of enjoying sun and sand, watching historical palaces, temples, churches and stay in tents during night time provided by MTDC. Tourists can reach to these places by road or train also.

Ratnagiri

 

If you have, a program for few days to visit this area you can move further to Ratnagiri a beautiful place to visit that is about 7-8 hours journey from Mumbai by a private car. By the way, if you are on your way to Ratnagiri by your own vehicle, do not miss a chance to visit 700 years old temple of Parushram situated in Chiploon hills on the way where people come to visit from allover the places.  

 

The temple is famous for its scenic beauty as the River flows down the valley just in front of the hill where the temple is located. This offers a nice view for visitors, a temple on the hill and river flowing down the valley where tourists enjoy boating and fishing. A little before Ratnagiri  on Mumbai -Goa road the famous temple of Lord Ganesha located on seashore. The temple better known, as Ganpati Phule where the sunset is very popular among the visitors who participate in post sunset Aarti and walking on the sand are other activities. Visitors generally stay here overnight to enjoy boating in the morning before returning.
